To advance industrial cooperation and matchmaking between China and Germany in the recycling of wind and photovoltaic equipment, Zhang Hui, Deputy Secretary-General of the International Renewable Energy Equipment Recycling Association and the Committee for Wind and Solar Equipment Recycling under China National Resources Recycling Association, paid an official visit to Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) in Berlin. The two sides held in-depth and constructive exchanges covering policy frameworks, technical routes, market opportunities and cooperation models for the end-of-life treatment of wind and solar equipment in China and Germany.
During the talks, the Chinese side elaborated on the rapid development and top-level policy design of China’s wind and solar equipment recycling industry. China attaches great importance to Germany’s experience in circular economy legislation, sophisticated sorting and recycling, and high-value resource recovery, and expects to join hands with German partners to jointly tackle global challenges brought by retired renewable energy equipment.
The German side expressed strong interest in the huge market potential and systematic industrial layout of China. It shared Germany’s and the EU’s management practices, key R&D priorities and business model explorations for emerging waste streams including wind turbine blade composites and PV modules under the frameworks of the Circular Economy Action Plan and the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive.
This visit constitutes a vital dialogue between China and Germany in the field of wind and solar equipment recycling. It aims to deepen bilateral cooperation on the decommissioning and circular utilization of renewable energy equipment, build a platform for international exchanges, and facilitate the integration of China’s new energy industry into the global green supply chain.
